More Than 600 Participate In PETRONAS Youth Football 2025 Bintulu Edition

BINTULU: The PETRONAS Youth Football Closed Tournament (PYFCT) 2025 Bintulu edition officially opened its curtain on Saturday at the Muhibah Stadium, Bintulu with the participation of more than 600 players and officials representing 23 teams from 17 academies and schools around the Central Zone of Sarawak.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.

In his speech, he stressed that this tournament is not just a football competition field, but an important platform to shape the character, leadership and resilience of young people.

“Today is not just about football, but an important step to highlight the spirit of sportsmanship, friendship and the big dreams of young people for Sarawak,” he said.

He added that the organisation of the PYFCT reflects the government’s commitment to empowering youth and strengthening the state’s future through sports, in line with the Sarawak Post-2030 vision to build a prosperous, inclusive and united society.

He also expressed his appreciation to PETRONAS for their strong support in youth development, in addition to the close collaboration of Bintulu Football Association (BIFA), Kuching City Football Club (KCFC), Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), TVS, Sarawak State Education Department, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus and Lea Sports Centre which made the tournament a success.

Dato Gerald also reminded young players to use this tournament as a starting point to dream big.- UKASnews
